APPENDIX A: USE OF OPTIONAL BLACK GERMAN COUNTERS

A Bridge Too Far includes a German OB, in reduced numbers in most instances, as a throwback to the old Squad Leader Series. As they are printed on a black background, some concessions to the existing ASL symbology were necessary to retain the detail of the artwork while not lessening the functionality of the counter. Generally, all the black text/marks on a counter become white (with some noted exceptions). Experienced players will quickly recognize these changes and will experience minimal impact on play. For those less familiar with the ASL system, the following example counters and explanations are provided:

INFANTRY/SW:

The only significant change to the Infantry/SW counters are that the malfunction "X" is now gray instead of white. There is no change in the meaning of the "X".

ORDNANCE:

This is a Small Target and suffers the (Un)Hooking penalty. The ring is slightly larger than the Target Size circle to assist in identification.

Similar to vehicles, the 360° symbol is gray instead of white to show up on the black background. The meaning doesn't change.

VEHICLES:

The biggest difference,  CYAN MP , it means the vehicle is open-topped.

Gray turret symbols replace white, they mean the same thing (1MT in this case).

Unarmored vehicles. White outline stars (shown) represent solid black stars (i.e., the vehicle is unarmored), solid white stars are small (or double small) targets, solid red stars are large (or double large) targets.
