PEGASUS BRIDGE SSR: SPECIAL RULES for all PB Scenarios and CG Scenarios

PB1. PB MAPS: The colors used to depict the various elevation levels on the PB map do not in all cases correspond to those on other ASL maps. The PB Base Levels range from Level -1 (Canal de Caen) through Level 2 (hex QQ2).

Because of aesthetic considerations used to depict the canal, river, and ponds, special attention should be given to rule B21.1. That is, if a non-stream hex center dot is completely within a blue background, that hex is a Water Obstacle.

PB2. OFF-MAP ROADS: Any road that exits off-map (i.e., to beyond the printed mapsheet area) is considered for the purposes of A2.51 to extend beyond that map edge either along the same lettered hexrow, or in hexes of the same coordinate, as that edge hex (depending on the configuration of the map hex grid). The off-map road is considered to be the same type (paved or unpaved) as the on-map road hex it connects to. All terrain in the off-map Setup Area is still considered Open Ground [EXC: half-hexes (A2.51)]. On the other hand, all on-map terrain that is not in play in a given scenario remains in effect for "offboard" movement and entry purposes during that scenario.

PB3. EC & WIND: EC are always Wet, and Wind Force is always "Mild Breeze" from the northwest at the start of every scenario, regardless of the changes which may occur during any CG scenario.

PB4. TERRAIN: The Canal de Caen is treated as a deep river, with a heavy current flowing north. All streams are shallow (B20.4). The Canal de Caen (Pegasus) Bridge (Y19-Y20) may never be destroyed by any means. Controlling Pegasus Bridge is defined as controlling the 8 non-Canal Locations adjacent to Y19 or Y20. The bridge artwork in Y20 represents the counter weight on the Canal de Caen bridge. It has no function in the game.

PB5. SOFT GROUND: Each Bog Check receives the +1 Soft Ground DRM (D8.21) [EXC: if on a paved road or entering a building Location across a building hexside; if crossing a barbed-wire-fence hexside].

PB6. HEDGES: All hedges25 require a Bog Check DR for any vehicle crossing a hedge hexside. Only fully-tracked vehicles may cross a slope-hedge or Crest-Line-hedge hexside and incur a +1 Bog DRM when crossing such a hexside.

PB7. ROOFTOPS: Rooftops (B23.8) are always in effect for building E15 (only). A Rooftop Location is concealment terrain for setup purposes. After the first RPh has been completed, B23.82 applies. A Rooftop Location is not considered a building Location for rout purposes.

PB8. TOWER: Hex C9 contains a Tower Obstacle (Chateau d'Eau; Q6.) with a Tower Location two Levels above ground level.

PB9. FIRES: Kindling Attempts are NA. Flames can only occur in building/rubble Locations.

PB10. BURNT-OUT WRECKS: A Burnt-Out Wreck cannot be Scrounged, set Ablaze, or removed from play as per D10.4. A Burnt-Out Wreck is a LOS Hindrance exactly like a normal wreck.

PB11. FRIENDLY BOARD EDGE(S): Recalled British AFV must exit between TT1 and TT17. Recalled German AFV must exit between A18 and NN1.

PB12. ELR: Each nationality uses the ELR assigned by the following chart for each type of unit in its OB. These ELR are not reduced at night. Halfsquads have the same ELR as their corresponding squad.

PB ELR CHART
NATIONALITYUNIT TYPEELR
GERMAN4-3-61
 4-4-72
 4-6-7, 4-6-83

BRITISH4-3-6, 4-4-73
 4-5-7, 4-5-84
 4-5-8, 6-4-8, Leaders    5

PB13. BRITISH AIRBORNE UNITS: All British MMC which are members of either the 6th Airborne Division or the 2nd Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry are considered Airborne MMC. Airborne MMC are designated by the "Rider-upon-Pegasus" symbol in place of the standard MMC class designation. The 6-4-8s/3-3-8s have the symbol within a box, while the 4-5-8s/2-4-8s have the symbol with no border. Airborne MMC are Elite, have an underlined Morale, and an ELR of 5. SMC which are part of an Airborne unit should be noted on a side record for purposes of Gammon Bomb usage (see PB15).

PB14. OX AND BUCKS: During Night scenarios only, all units designated as part of the 2nd Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry26 are considered Stealthy for all purposes. All Infantry units of the Ox and Bucks may use Captured SW at no penalty. A side note should be made differentiating the Ox and Bucks from other Airborne units for this purpose. Q&A

PB15. AIRBORNE BRITISH VS AFV CLOSE COMBAT: To simulate the use of Gammon Bombs, all British Airborne Infantry units may roll for ATMM (C13.7); placement of one, however, adds only a -2 DRM to CC resolution.

PB16. GERMAN AFV: German vehicle crews may not voluntarily abandon non-Immobilized vehicles. All PzKpfw lVH are equipped with Schürzen (D11.2).

PB17. NO QUARTER: The British have declared No Quarter.

PB18. BORE SIGHTING: Bore Sighting is NA for either side.

PB19. STARSHELLS: Only leaders and CE AFV may attempt to place starshells.27 British leaders receive a +2 drm to all starshell attempts.

PB20. GLIDERS: All Glider landings receive a +1 colored drm (E8.22) and, if landing on a Wire hex, a +1 Crash drm (E8.23).

PB21. INTERROGATION: Civilian (only) Interrogation (E2.4) is allowed. The British are considered to be in a friendly, and the Germans in a hostile, country.

PB22. PANZERFAUSTS: The total number of PF (FRD) shots taken in a scenario [EXC: PB CG12] may not exceed one-half times the number of squads.
